For Children and Youth

YouthTime is the name of SCUC’s Sunday school. It provides children and teens the opportunity to grow spiritually through faith-based learning and experiences. Programming is provided for kids from 3 to 18 years of age.  It’s an opportunity for children to dig into the story of the day and on most Sunday’s, the basis for the story will be the same one that their parents are hearing about in the worship service.  Leadership is provided by a variety of volunteers, under the guidance of the Christian Development team and the Minister for Christian Development and Pastoral Care.

· YouthTime NURSERY – for babies and toddlers up to and including 3 years of age.

· YouthTime MIGHTY-MITES – for 4 & 5 year olds, up to the time they finish Sr. Kindergarten; includes story time and craft activities.

· YouthTime KIDS – for children in Grades 1 – 8. This group is divided into two sub groups. The ‘core’ group is for those children from Grade 1 – Grade 5. The ‘tween’ group is for those children in Grade 6 – Grade 8; consists of a gathering time where offering is collected, with activities including prayer, stories, crafts and/or other adventures.

· YouthTime TEENS – for teenagers who are in high school; primarily discussion takes place about topics that are relevant to today’s teenagers, in a format that is open and comfortable for the teens and could be loosely based on the day’s scripture.

·  CAMPUS and CAREERS – for those that have finished high school and are pursuing post secondary education or careers.  This group may join the Teens or plan separate activities.

There are also occasional Sundays when the children join their families for all ages worship.

In order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, each child must be registered using a YouthTimeRegistration form. If you are new to Stoney Creek United Church, please see our Minister for Christian Development, Linda Clark, or the Team Leader of the Christian Development team, Karen Bell, to learn more about our programs and obtain a registration form.

Also, our Youth Choir meets in the Sanctuary, every Sunday after church.

 YouthTime Outreach

We are called to reach out to the world we live in.  Volunteering some time to outreach activities is very rewarding both for the giver and the people that receive our help. Participating in and supporting outreach activities is an important part of the youth programming at Stoney Creek United Church, including:

A year-around Food Drive in support of the Stoney Creek food bank

Operation Clean Teen collecting donations of toiletries & clothing for under-privileged and/or homeless youth attending school within the H.W.D.S.B.

“Raising the Roof” national toque campaign to help fight homelessness

Sponsoring a World Vision Child
